What is Evaluation.gov?

Evaluation.gov is the home for Federal program evaluation and the Evaluation Officer Council. Evaluation.gov brings together the plans and activities that drive evaluation efforts across the Federal Government.

On this site you can:

  • Learn about the Evaluation Officer Council and their activities;
  • Find official guidance on Evidence Act implementation and Federal evaluation;
  • Access agency plans for building evidence (Learning Agendas) and conducting evaluations (Annual Evaluation Plans), as well as agency assessments of their capacity to generate needed evidence for policymaking, and the policies that govern evaluation activities; and
  • Resources to support and improve evaluation and its use, including leading examples of how Federal evaluation is helping to answer priority questions about mission and operational effectiveness.

About the OMB Evidence Team

The OMB Evidence Team at the Office of Management and Budget is committed to developing, building, producing and using evidence and evaluation as a tool to improve government-wide effectiveness. Toward this end, the Team coordinates and supports evidence building and use across the Federal Government. Through support of the Evaluation Officer Council, engagement with the Federal evaluation community, and development of guidance and resources, the Evidence Team advances the goal of better integrating evidence and rigorous evaluation in budget, management, operational, and policy decisions.

Additionally, this website collates and shares resources to support and improve evaluation activities and their use, including leading examples of how Federal evaluation is helping to answer priority questions about agency mission and operational effectiveness.

This website does not provide a complete inventory of all the statutory and policy requirements associated with Evidence Act implementation across the Federal Government. Not all requirements or resources on this website apply to all agencies. We are committed to making all of our Internet documents accessible to everyone. In order to meet the requirements of the 1998 Amendment to Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, we continually review our site with the goal of reducing accessibility problems for people with disabilities.

The documents on our site are in many formats. Many are in ASCII or HTML format, accessible to people who use screen reading software and to those with other vision or mobility impairments. Generally, we use Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) to create pages and documents that are accessible to that segment of our customer base. In creating HTML documents, we follow Section 508 standards; for example, we include alternate text to describe graphics. Currently, our website contains documents in Adobe Acrobat PDF file format. Most PDF files will be accessible to those who use assistive technology such as screen readers. Some legacy or software created PDF files may not be accessible.
